TRAMPLED GRAPES

“Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why
do we deal treacherously, every Man against his brother, by
profaning the Covenant of our fathers?"

Behold, I will send My Messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: and the Lord, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to His Temple, even the Messenger of the Covenant, whom you delight in: Behold, He shall come, declares the LORD of Hosts, but who may abide the Day of His Coming? And who shall stand when He appears?

This is what the LORD, the GOD of Israel said, “Take from My hand this Cup filled with the Wine of My Wrath, and make all the Nations to who I send you, drink it. When they drink it, they will stagger and go mad, because of the Sword I will send among them.”

So I, [Jeremiah] took the Cup from the Lord’s hand and made all the Nations to whom He sent me, drink it: Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and officials, to make them a ruin and an object of horror, scorn and cursing, as they are today—all the kingdoms on the face of the Earth and after all of them—the king of Sheshach (Babylon) will drink it too.

“Then tell them, this is what the Almighty, the GOD of Israel, says: ‘Drink, get drunk and vomit, and fall to rise no more because of the Sword I will send among you.’ But if they refuse to take the Cup from your hand and drink, tell them, this is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘You must drink it! I AM bringing disaster on the city that bears My Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I Am calling down a Sword upon all who live on the Earth.’"

"Now prophesy these words against them and say to them: ‘The LORD will roar from On High; He will Thunder from His Holy Dwelling and roar mightily against His Land. He will shout like those who tread the grapes; shout against all who live on the Earth. The tumult will resound to the ends of the Earth, for the LORD will bring charges against the Nations; He will bring Judgment on all Mankind and put the Wicked to the Sword.’”

Look! Disaster is spreading from Nation to Nation; a mighty storm is rising from the ends of the Earth. Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with His garments stained crimson?

Who is this Robed in Splendor, striding forward in the greatness of His strength? . . .

“It is I, speaking in Righteousness; Mighty to save.”
Why is Your garment red like those of one treading the winepress?

"I have trodden the winepress, alone; from the Nations, no one was with Me. I trampled them in My anger, and trodden them down in My Wrath; their blood spattered My garments and I stained My clothing; for the Day of Vengeance was in My heart, and the year of My Redemption has come. I looked, but there was no one to help; I was appalled that no one gave support; so My own Arm worked Salvation for Me, and My own wrath sustained Me. I trampled the Nations in My anger; in My wrath I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground.”
Come near you Nations and listen; pay attention you people! Let the Earth hear, and all that is in it, the World, and all that comes out of it! The LORD is angry with the Nations; His wrath is upon all their Armies; He will totally destroy them; He will give them over to slaughter. Their slain will be thrown out, their dead bodies will send up a stench; the Mountains will be soaked with their blood . . . all the stars of the Heavens will be dissolved and the Sky rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine; like shriveled figs from the fig tree.
“MY Sword has drunk its fill in the Heavens; see it descends in Judgment on Edom, the people I have totally destroyed.” The Sword of the LORD is bathed in blood, it is covered with fat—the blood of lambs and goats, fat from the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a Sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in Edom. The wild oxen will fall with them, the bull calves and the great bulls; their land will be drenched with blood and the dust will be soaked with fat. For the LORD has a Day of Vengeance, a year of Retribution to uphold Zion’s cause.
